Got veg!

On Friday my parents came up and we dressed Natalie up in an outfit that their neighbours had bought for her so they could see a photo of her in it. It's a really horrible polyester outfit, almost like a bridesmaids dress complete with bloomers, bolero jacket and a bonnet (which unfortunately was a step too far for Natalie so I didn't get a photo of that). I'd been putting it off for ages because Natalie hates being dressed and undressed, so changing her outfit for a photo seemed a bit cruel, but it was getting to the point where if we didn't put the outfit on her soon she'd be too big to fit into it, so we went for it and this was the result (note how unimpressed she looks):

This weekend we finally got round to planting some vegetables in our veg plot. OK, so we cheated with the tomatoes and some carrots (oh, and the strawberries in the hanging basket), but we planted some beetroot, lettuce, pak choi, and spring onions from seed so hopefully they'll grow!

The herbs are doing well, and at the end of the garden we got a bit of a bonus - Pete dug up a plant to find a potato!

All the gardening was a bit much for Natalie so she had a nap in the shade...

So that was our Saturday. Then on Sunday we drove to Brighton to see our friend Mark for his birthday. We arrived for breakfast and later had a BBQ on the beach - maybe not the best idea with a 3 month old - she was fairly grizzly! I think next time we attempt the beach we'll get one of those half tents to block the breeze and give some shade, we'll take the sling (sand/ pebbles + pushchair, not a great combination - the wheels got stuck), and maybe pick a softer and more level bit of the beach to sit on - the hard pebbles and 45 degree incline weren't the best surface to lie a baby on! We did enjoy it though, despite the struggle.
